After a brief hiatus and slight line-up re-jig, London's For Breakfast have returned with a murky new epic. 'Undercurrent' shakes off some of the angular post-punk we came to expect from the sextet's early works taking on a more considered, post-rock-inspired sound. Floating above a sea of metallic guitar slides, a warm, rippling bass line guides the track through a series of experimental sounds as singer Maya's stunning vocals glide effortlessly above the mix. Picking up the pace around the 3 minute 40 mark, 'Undercurrent' is a game of two halves, building in momentum and intensity as the track hurtles towards a snarling, psychedelic climax.
